SOMMERPAUSE

Killepitsch

Killepitsch – A true Düsseldorf specialty!

Everyone knows it, but few know that the popular herbal liqueur is produced by the Peter Busch GmbH & Co. KG liqueur factory. Spirits have been produced here since 1858. After moving from Düsseldorf's Old Town in 2005, Killepitsch, Applepitsch, Ginpitsch, and Vodkapitsch are now produced in the Media Harbour by Peter Busch (4th generation) and Katharina Busch (5th generation).

The true story of a real old town resident, with Hans Müller-Schlösser, the unforgettable creator of "Schneider Wibbel" and Willi Busch, the old master of local customs.

It was during the last war. The two old friends were once again huddled in the air-raid shelter, as they often did, while outside the "little bombs" fell. "You know," said Willi, "if this goes on again, they'll kill us here too."

“Don't worry, Willi, before you have two more delicious things,” said Hans Müller-Schlösser. Then Willi: “How can I have a fight if I don’t have a sheep?” Hans is astonished: "How? No Schabau mieh, you like Schabau!" Willi: "Hans, what about if you don't have any alcohol? I'm just talking about it, Hans, come to me, he's all right, it won't kill you, then you'll have to brew the bells, you can still lick it, then you'll have a pitsche on it, which you can then call me 'Killepitsch'!"

Thus, the name "Killepitsch" was born, but not yet "dat lecker Schabäuke" (the delicious Schabäuke). It wasn't until 1955 that the time had come, when "Et Kabüffke," the small tasting room with the large selection, opened in the heart of the old town on Flinger Straße.
