The world is facing major challenges. This affects every single one of us, us as a society, and us as a company. We are aware that online retail entails an increased carbon footprint. With every step and every bit of growth that is possible thanks to you as part of our amazing craft beer community, we also want to give something back. We have taken several measures to save as much CO2 as possible, offset our emissions , and even neutralize additional CO2 .
Shipping at Beer Belly Cologne is climate neutral! We are a partner of "Planet" and therefore automatically offset the CO2 emissions generated during the individual shipping of our packages.
But that's not all. For every order you place with Beer Belly Cologne, the Eden Reforestation Project plants a tree, and together we improve our carbon footprint. Learn more about the project here . Our Impact Report provides transparent updates on our progress.
We collect all our beers directly from regional breweries. Short and direct routes are good for the beer and the environment.
We also receive beer deliveries by mail. We reuse the cardboard boxes provided by the breweries to send you the beer. So don't be surprised if you receive a used, not new, box.
To save resources, especially for our shipping partners, we pack your order in the smallest possible packaging size.
In the winter of 2016, the two Augsburg natives, Enzo Frauenschuh and Matthias Gruber, founded FrauGruber Brewing (FRAUenschuh + GRUBER = FrauGruber) and brewed their first beers as gypsy brewers (contract brewers) in the spring of 2017 at the Old Factory in Gundelfingen. Within the following three years, FrauGruber succeeded in exporting its beers to over 20 countries on a regular basis.
It quickly became clear that all the ideas, experiments, and developments would be very difficult to realize without our own brewery and the freedom that comes with it. To grow both quantitatively and conceptually, FrauGruber had to expand. We succeeded in realizing our dream of owning our own brewery in January 2020. This allowed us to achieve our goal of creating a kind of "way of life" and building a community with whom we can share our enthusiasm and passion for beer. Our aim is to explore and embrace the incredible diversity of beer, to act sustainably, and above all, to elevate the value of beer.
For us, it's important to have the greatest possible influence on the technology and the raw materials used. Regionality is very important to us, which is why we have our own Steffi and Marthe malting barley grown by four partner farmers and then malted by a nearby malt house.
While in 2019 we cultivated approximately 11 hectares (approx. 60 tons), we were able to increase this to approximately 40 hectares (approx. 220 tons) in 2020. This ensures that we don't have to work with new high-yield varieties bred solely for yield and resistance, where the aspects that are essential to us (full flavor, fermentation behavior, technological processing, etc.) have been neglected.
We also cultivate the 13 yeast strains used in production ourselves, in order to be able to control both the quality of the yeast and the quantity of yeast cells.
We source the international hop varieties we use from countries such as the USA, Australia, Tasmania, New Zealand, and of course Bavaria, either directly from the hop growers or from our partners worldwide. Fortunately, we can trust these partners completely, as they understand and share our high quality standards.
All this effort is essential for us to make FrauGruber beers FrauGruber beers, simply FRAUGRUBERLICIOUS.....
