The world is facing major challenges. This affects every single one of us, us as a society, and us as a company. We are aware that online retail entails an increased carbon footprint. With every step and every bit of growth that is possible thanks to you as part of our amazing craft beer community, we also want to give something back. We have taken several measures to save as much CO2 as possible, offset our emissions , and even neutralize additional CO2 .
Shipping at Beer Belly Cologne is climate neutral! We are a partner of "Planet" and therefore automatically offset the CO2 emissions generated during the individual shipping of our packages.
But that's not all. For every order you place with Beer Belly Cologne, the Eden Reforestation Project plants a tree, and together we improve our carbon footprint. Learn more about the project here . Our Impact Report provides transparent updates on our progress.
We collect all our beers directly from regional breweries. Short and direct routes are good for the beer and the environment.
We also receive beer deliveries by mail. We reuse the cardboard boxes provided by the breweries to send you the beer. So don't be surprised if you receive a used, not new, box.
To save resources, especially for our shipping partners, we pack your order in the smallest possible packaging size.
Grimm Artisanal Ales, based in Brooklyn, is known worldwide as both a stylistic innovator and a respectful custodian of tradition. In addition to winning awards and accolades within the brewing industry (including New York State Brewery of the Year in 2021 and 2022), Grimm's focus on elegant, complex beers has cultivated a loyal following that appreciates the brewery's skillful use of spontaneous fermentation as much as its aromatic hazy IPAs. Part small business, part art project, this brewery reflects the creative vision of the Grimm family and their joyful group of collaborators.
Joe Grimm (a former indie/experimental musician) and Lauren Carter Grimm (a former sculptor and conceptual artist) view brewing and fermentation as an extension of their creative practice. Working with a team of critical and quality-obsessed beer enthusiasts, they explore historical brewing practices while innovating with cutting-edge research to make their own contribution to the living brewing tradition in the form of sophisticated, creative, and flavorful beers.
Before opening their own brewery in 2018, the Grimms were at the forefront of several innovative beer styles that have since achieved widespread popularity. After their Northeast-style IPAs garnered viral acclaim, the Grimms launched dry-hopped sour ales—precursors to the "sour IPA" style and some of the first of their kind. The related Pop! series added lactose and vanilla, pioneering the dessert-style sour ales category.
Current projects include the development of a unique concept for American spontaneous ale (fermented exclusively by local microorganisms from the surrounding area and aged for 1 to 3 years in ex-wine barrels), adapting the historical practices of Belgian lambic to their own time and place. To further celebrate the natural beauty of their surroundings, the Grimm team employs carbonic maceration techniques borrowed from the wine world to extract the best flavor from local, whole fruits and blend them with carefully selected beer barrels.
Grimm's former industrial spaces are equipped with custom-designed equipment tailored to their distinctive brewing methods and uniquely aromatic house yeast strain, lovingly cultivated for hundreds of generations. The adjacent airy, plant-filled taproom offers ample space for friends and neighbors to enjoy Grimm beers at their freshest and best. Weekly taproom events include a Bring Your Own Vinyl night, DJ sets on Fridays, and food pop-ups throughout the weekend. Never content to rest on their laurels, the Grimm team is currently collaborating with local wineries to develop their own sulfite-free, spontaneously fermented red and orange wines and transforming the rooftop terrace into a second bar, pizzeria, and private event space.
