Once, sitting on the pub terrace, he was telling a story about how, during the war, he'd met a Canadian mate—a big guy with little taste, who couldn't handle our strong beers. But Bompa knew exactly what to do: this Canadian always carried some maple syrup with him, and Bompa decided—in his own inimitable way—to add a few blackberries from the bushes beside the pub. Together, they brewed something truly unique, and now Bompa insists that it be served his way at the local pub.
